3 Indian batters who scored double centuries in England
While many batters have reached the 100-run mark, only a few have managed to double it.
2. Rahul Dravid - 217 vs England at the Oval, 2002:
In the 4th Test at The Oval in 2002, former India skipper and head coach, Rahul Dravid, delivered one of his finest performances with a marathon innings of 217 runs, becoming the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to score a double century on English soil. Coming in early after the visitors lost Virender Sehwag and Sanjay Bangar, Dravid held on to one end. He batted for over 11 hours, facing 468 balls, and smashed 28 boundaries.
Dravid’s knock came in India’s reply to England’s 515. He stitched partnerships with Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman, anchoring the team to a total of 508. His 5th wicket stand with Laxman was a record for India against England at The Oval. The right-handed batter had a golden run in that series, where he had already scored 115 at Nottingham and 148 in a winning cause at Headingley. The match ended in a draw due to rain on the final day.
