There was a lot of hype surrounding Ravichandran Ashwin, who was making a comeback in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after 10 years. The legendary off-spinner was bought for ₹9.75 Cr in the mega auction but was not at his best this season. This was one of the rare occasions where the 38-year-old’s bag of tricks could not solve the team’s problems at all.

Ashwin could only manage to take five wickets and 20 runs in the eight matches he has played, which could be enough to see him get released from the franchise ahead of the next season. This could also mean that he might not get a high bid, unlike the mega auction this year.
