5 IPL stars who may lose big money in the next auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently in its last leg, and though there have been some great performances, there have also been some players who have disappointed the fans this season. Some of the underwhelming performances have come from players who went into the tournament with a huge price tag. The performances of the players could lead to their value dropping in the upcoming season. It is time to discuss some of the players who might see a decline in their paycheck going into the next season because of their poor performances in the league, which has also affected their team's chances in the global franchise tournament. Here are the five players whose salaries might be reduced in the upcoming season because of their poor performances in IPL 2025: 5. Dhruv Jurel (RR) Dhruv Jurel. (Source - Getty Images) There is no doubt that Dhruv Jurel is one of the upcoming talents in Indian cricket, and though his performances have not been poor, the price of ₹14 Cr was always going to be a huge price tag to live up to. It seemed like the Rajasthan Royals (RR) had expected more from the young wicketkeeper batter this season. The next season might see Jurel being released and bought for a lower price in the next auction. Jurel in the 12 matches he has played so far, has scored 249 runs at an average of 31.12 this season and has a strike rate of 146.47. Though Jurel has managed to get some starts this season but he has not been able to convert them into big innings. 4. Ravichandran Ashwin (CSK) Ravi-Ashwin. (Photo Source: X) There was a lot of hype surrounding Ravichandran Ashwin, who was making a comeback in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after 10 years. The legendary off-spinner was bought for ₹9.75 Cr in the mega auction but was not at his best this season. This was one of the rare occasions where the 38-year-old’s bag of tricks could not solve the team’s problems at all. Ashwin could only manage to take five wickets and 20 runs in the eight matches he has played, which could be enough to see him get released from the franchise ahead of the next season. This could also mean that he might not get a high bid, unlike the mega auction this year. 3. Rinku Singh (KKR) Rinku Singh. (Source -IPL/BCCI) There was a lot expected of Rinku Singh this season, especially after he was retained for ₹13 Cr ahead of the mega-auction this season. Rinku Singh was set to be one of the up-and-coming finishers for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but has not been able to play that role to perfection. There might be a chance that the 27-year-old batter might see a bit of a decline in his salary going into the next season. Rinku Singh, despite batting up the order this season, has failed to live up to the expectations and has not been able to play the big innings he was expected to play. In the 12 matches he has played this season, he could only manage 197 runs at an average of 32.83. 2. Mohammed Shami (SRH) Mohammed Shami. However, this season has been a complete disappointment for the veteran pacer. Shami was bought by the Hyderabad franchise for ₹4 CR and struggled to take wickets in the powerplay and the death. This could lead to him getting released from the franchise and getting fewer bidders in the next season. The 34-year-old pacer in the nine matches he has played has only taken six wickets at an average of 56.16 this season. The economy of over 11 has not helped the team's chances as well, with the Hyderabad franchise still among the teams who are languishing at the bottom of the points table. 1.Venkatesh Iyer (KKR) Venkatesh Iyer. (Source - Getty Images) Venkatesh Iyer was one of the biggest buys by Kolkata Knight Riders and was among the most expensive players in the mega auction. Iyer was bought at a price of ₹23.75 Cr but has not made a lot of useful contributions to the defending champions. Iyer was one of the players to watch out for this season but, there might be a chance we see a drop in his salary going into next year. The Madhya Pradesh batting all-rounder has been dropped down the pecking order this season as well, which has resulted in him barely getting a chance to bat. In the 11 games he has featured in, he has only managed to score 142 runs at an average of 20.28 and has only one fifty-plus score to his name. He has not managed to get any overs with the ball as well.
