Sunrisers Hyderabad had a pretty disappointing campaign in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League as the franchise failed to reach the playoffs despite being on a five-match unbeaten streak at one stage during the tournament. SRH ended the season in the eighth position with six wins in 14 games.

In a bid to make amends, the Hyderabad team management has taken some bold calls and let go of a total of 12 players from their squad, including the likes of Kane Williamson and Nicholas Pooran. Courtesy of the big releases, SRH now have a whopping sum of INR 42.25 crore remaining in their kitty and can pick some top-drawer players at the IPL 2023 auction.

Here are three players SRH might pick at IPL 2023 auction :

3. Murugan Ashwin

Sunrisers Hyderabad decided against retaining Shreyas Gopal and Jagadeesha Suchith for the next season. Thus, they only have one quality spinner in Washington Sundar in their bowling line-up. Therefore, SRH are likely to go fishing for spin-bowling options at the upcoming auction and Murugan Ashwin could be one of their targets.

Ashwin has been a proven performer in the T20 circuit. The 32-year-old has featured in 96 games in the shortest format and bagged 94 wickets at an economy of 7.28. He has done a decent job in the IPL as well and picked up 35 wickets in 42 matches at an economy of 7.87.

The Chennai-born is a wily customer and can bamboozle batters with his variations. Ashwin has the ability to bowl in the powerplay too and gives his captain more options on the field. Therefore, the Hyderabad franchise could raise their paddle to pick the leg-spinner at the auction.
