3. Kane Williamson

At the auction, GT’s eye-catching buy was Kane Williamson as the franchise got him at his base price of INR 2 crore only. The Kiwi cricketer has a glorifying record in the league as he has played many match-winning knocks for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from 2015-2022. After delivering below-par displays as a skipper and batter in the last edition, he failed to find a spot in the SRH’s retention list in November.

In 2023, the veteran will look forward to using his experience and skills for Gujarat to help them defend the title. In the last season, the Titans tried Matthew Wade, Vijay Shankar, and Sai Sudharsan at number three, but all of them failed to do big. In the next edition, the franchise might assign Williamson to bat at number three as he serves his national side in the same position, and also has a credible record.

So far, the 32-year-old has played 76 IPL games and scored 2,101 runs, at a strike rate of 126.03, with 18 half-centuries. He will be supported by some experienced names such as Wriddhiman Saha, David Miller, Hardik Pandya, and Matthew Wade to reinforce the GT batting line-up.
