Delhi Capitals seemingly had one goal in mind for IPL 2024, buy as many wicketkeepers as they could to back up Rishabh Pant in the next IPL season. They bought Shai Hope, Tristan Stubbs, Ricky Bhui, and Kumar Kushagra in the auction to be backup wicketkeepers in the DC squad. While other keepers bought by DC cost them only their base prices, Kumar Kushagra got an unreal bid.

DC paid INR 7.20 Cr for Kushagra, who has played U19 cricket for India. He impressed Sourav Ganguly, the DC director of cricket enough in the trials to warrant such a huge bid from the franchise. He is also a very aggressive batter at the top and perhaps the team management will find a good use for him in the XI.
