IPL: 5 Indians who can lead franchises in future
These youngsters with invaluable experience at the international, domestic and IPL levels could be seen as potential leaders by their respective franchises.
1. Shubman Gill
Currently, Shubman Gill is having a great time as a batter. Since the start of 2023, Gill has been dominating bowlers across formats. In the upcoming IPL season, he will go in with the same approach to help his franchise successfully defend the title. In the last season, he played a huge role with the bat to help his team lift the trophy.
The 23-year-old hit 483 runs with four half-centuries in 16 matches at a strike rate of 132.32. Before 2022, he delivered his services to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for four seasons. As a KKR stalwart, he scored 1,417 runs with 10 half-centuries in 58 matches, at a strike rate of 123.00. Overall, the explosive opening batter has notched up 1,517 runs thus far in 74 matches at a strike rate of 125.25.
These numbers make Gill a credible batting figure in the league. If he gets better with his game, the GT management could see him as a potential captain and give him the responsibility to lead the team in the coming years.
