Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2016.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) joined the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013 following the dissolution of the Deccan Chargers franchise. Owned by Kalanithi Maran of the Sun Group, the Hyderabad-based team has been a consistent talking point since its inception.
SRH achieved their biggest milestone in 2016, winning their maiden IPL title under the leadership of David Warner. They have also finished as runners-up twice and qualified for the playoffs in seven out of 13 seasons. Over the years, SRH have played 198 matches, maintaining a win percentage of 47.47.
Apart from their on-field performances, SRH have often made headlines during IPL auctions with their strategic buys and bold choices. The franchise has featured several international stars, including Dale Steyn, Shikhar Dhawan, Thisara Perera, and Daren Sammy, who have all played crucial roles in the team’s journey across different seasons.
The franchise has seen multiple captains over the years, each contributing to the team’s evolution. Currently, Australian captain Pat Cummins leads SRH, with Daniel Vettori serving as the head coach, as the team continues to aim for another title in the seasons to come.
