The Indian cricket team is gearing up for a jam-packed schedule of assignments in the coming months. The T20 World Cup is going to be the main attraction, but preceding the marquee event is a series against New Zealand.
The Men in Blue will host the Kiwis in a three-match ODI series, starting on January 11. The first game will be played at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. For the next game, the action shifts to the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 14. The final encounter in the ODI leg is set to be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on January 18.
After the ODIs, the two behemoths of world cricket will square off in a five-match T20I series. Nagpur, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram are scheduled to host the five games between January 21 and 31.
This will be India's final series before they get their T20 World Cup campaign underway. The Men in Blue are placed in Group A alongside the USA, Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. On February 7, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host India's opening match in the 20-team tournament, which is against the USA.
The Asian giants will then face Namibia on February 12, Pakistan on February 15, and the Netherlands on February 18, in Delhi, Colombo, and Ahmedabad, respectively. The T20 World Cup ends on March 9.
After participating in the showpiece tournament, Suryakumar Yadav and his men will join their respective franchise teams ahead of the start of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League.
