Cricket in 2018: T20 League wise Best bowler

It is a tough place to be a bowler in T20 cricket. There is hardly any scope for error and once a bowler is slightly off the mark, he is dispatched miles away. However, a few bowlers have thrived in the most difficult of circumstances and performed exceedingly well. In the T20 leagues that they have featured in, they outsmarted the batsmen on several occasions and have been highly successful. A total of eight T20 leagues that were played all around the world in 2018 were considered. Based on their stats and the impact created, the best bowler from each of these leagues was picked and listed here. These men had a significant say on their team’s fortunes in the respective tournaments. However, the leading wicket-taker wasn’t taken into account on all the instances. Here is the best bowler T20 league wise in 2018: Andrew Tye | Big Bash League Andrew Tye. (Photo by Paul Kane/Getty Images) Rashid Khan and DJ Bravo have definitely picked more wickets than Andrew Tye. Yet, it is the Australian pacer who had a major impact on the tournament with his bowling. Tye only featured in six games in BBL 2017-18. But, he ended with 16 wickets at an average of 12 in the 23.4 overs that he bowled. He was brilliant for the Perth Scorchers in the tournament and also picked up a five-wicket haul. (Photo Source: Twitter) This 26-year-old pacer, highly accurate and capable of generating movement in the air, reclaimed his stake to make it into the national team after his performance in South Africa’s homegrown T20 league. In only 9 innings, Duanne Olivier accounted for 20 scalps at a strike rate of 10 and average just over 13. He finished as the leading wicket-taker in the maiden edition of the tournament. (Photo by Vaughn Ridley/Getty Images) Windies’ speedster Sheldon Cottrell did nothing wrong in the tournament and finished as the leading wicket-taker. But, it was Lasith Malinga who returned with slightly better numbers and created a larger impact. The Sri Lankan pacer, who had troubles with form and fitness, announced that he still has a lot left in him with his performance in the Global T20 Canada. In six games, he picked up 13 wickets at an average of 12 and economy slightly above 6. Isuru Udana | Afghanistan Premier League Isuru Udana. (Photo Source: Twitter) Even though he started his international career on a high, Isuru Udana lost it midway and struggled with his consistency. However, he is turning out to be a late bloomer and is churning out some terrific performances at the age of 30. Once touted as the next Chaminda Vaas, Udana did justice to the tag with his performance in the inaugural APL. The left-arm pacer picked up 17 wickets in 8 games in the event at an economy rate just under 8. Pat Brown | T20 Blast Patrick Brown. (Photo by Nathan Stirk/Getty Images) At just 20 years of age, Pat Brown has made a significant name for himself in the English domestic circuit. He is right on the verge of making his England debut after a brilliant show in the T20 Blast. Brown picked up 31 scalps in 16 games in the T20 Blast 2018 at an average of 13.35. His economy rate is 7.64 while he has got a terrific strike rate of 10.4. The pacer notched up a four-wicket haul in the tournament and is expected to make it big in the near future. Fawad Ahmed | Caribbean Premier League Fawad Ahmed. (Photo by Ashley Allen – CPL T20/Getty Images) It was quite surprising that the Australian leg-spinner went unsold in the IPL auction despite some distinguished performances this year. Fawad Ahmed is quite a crafty leggie and has got many variations up his sleeve. He was great in the Caribbean islands and ended the CPL as the highest wicket-taker. Fawad accounted for 22 wickets in 13 games at an average of 14. His economy rate was just above six which is commendable, bowling against the big Caribbean hitters. Faheem Ashraf | Pakistan Super League Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan. (Photo Source: Twitter) According to the stats, Umar Gul yielded a great show with eight scalps in only two games in the last edition’s IPL. However, it was Faheem Ashraf who managed to maintain the consistency for a longer duration. The 24-year-old bowling all-rounder used his pace-variations very cleverly and was quite cheeky with his tricks with the ball. (Photo by IANS) Andrew Tye is the only bowler to feature for the second time on this list. The pacer is terrific in T20 cricket. He often chokes the batsmen with his accuracy and clever change of pace. Tye has got quite a few variations of the slower ball which makes him so successful. He was the ‘Purple Cap’ winner in last season’s IPL with 24 scalps from 14 matches at an average of 18.66 and played a significant role in KXIP’s success in the early parts of the tournament.
