The star batter Virat Kohli has been excellent on the ongoing 2022 Asia Cup tournament in UAE and is leading the scoring charts for India with 154 runs in three matches. He smashed the highest 60 runs in their Super 4 clash against Pakistan, which ended in a defeat for India on Sunday.

Kohli revealed that he received no personal call from anyone after his decision to step down from the captaincy duties last year and his comments have received mixed reactions from the cricketing fraternity.

The former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta pointed out that Kohli's comments were taken out of context and media should be focusing more on the match instead of who called whom.

"I don't know what he(Virat) is trying to say, because i thought it was out of context as it was a post-match presentation. Maybe he was talking about his feeling regarding his past comments about not being in right place mentally. It's fair enough to expect calls from the teammates and former cricketers," Deep said on Bat Bricks7 presents Run ki Runneeti show on Crictracter just before the India-Sri Lanka clash on Tuesday.

You should move on: Wasim Jaffer on Virat Kohli's comments

Kohli struggled for consistency and big knocks for the last two years and was also forced to leave the captaincy of the red-ball team last year. Kohli revealed that he was told to step down from the captaincy duties by BCCI but later, Sourav Ganguly stated that the board wanted the player to continue the leadership role.

Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer stated that communication is the main reason behind Kohli and BBCI's rift and the player should move one. "First of all, it was not an occasion to talk about this as it was the India-Pakistan post-match conference. I don't know how it popped out but it is obvious that the issue was the communication, whether it was from Virat or Sourav, or, BCCI. But we have to end this past-topic now and move on. Obviously Virat was not happy but he should also move on now," Jaffer said.
