Under the leadership of Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals have won seven out of eight matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League and are comfortably at the top of the IPL 2024 points table. In their last match against Mumbai Indians, the inaugural champions were clinical with both bat and bowl and eventually picked up a comfortable nine-wicket victory, which impressed former cricketer Aaron Finch.

After the match, Finch lauded RR skipper Samson and mentioned that the cricketer holds zero egos, which is helping Rajasthan to do well in the tournament. He added that sometimes the ego of a skipper disrupts the momentum but in RR’s case, Samson has done a commendable job and shown the maturity to keep the ship sail.

Finch also mentioned that Samson has been unbelievable as a leader and noted that Rajasthan have been extremely calm under his leadership, which is very key in T20 cricket. He also reminded that RR have been clinical under pressure and he credited Samson for that.

“Yeah it certainly has, he's been playing really mature innings and that's what is required for the team. I think in times of T20 cricket, the ego of the batsman can get in the way of what the team needs sometimes but he's been playing each and every situation exactly how it's needed to be done,” the former world cup-winning skipper said while talking to Star Sports.

“I think he's leading the side unbelievably well, you can see how calm the Rajasthan Royals are when they're under pressure. And I think that the only game they lost was when they had that meltdown against GT right at the back end of the game, so they've been so clinical right throughout this IPL and a lot of credit has to go to Sanju for that,” the 37-year-old concluded.

Meanwhile, Samson has hit 314 runs in eight matches so far in the IPL 2024 and with that, he is currently fourth on the Orange Cap list.
