Asia Cup 2025: "I did see some of the things Rauf, Farhan did, we're really proud of how the guys carried themselves" - Ryan ten Doeschate

"Let me first say, the amount of pressure that's been heaped on the players because of the situation, it's very difficult to control their behaviour," India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said.

India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate praised his players for the way they have let their bat do all the talking against Pakistan in the two games they have played against each other in the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The former Netherlands all-rounder said that Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan's controversial actions didn't go unnoticed in the Super-Four clash between India and Pakistan.

The right-arm speedster gestured "6-0" towards the Indian fans, referring to the unverified claims of Pakistan downing six Indian fighter jets in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. On the other hand, Farhan, in the first innings, held his bat like a gun and aimed it at the skies to celebrate his half-century. However, he couldn't up the ante after getting to his milestone. Pakistan managed only 79 run the last 10 overs after reaching 91/1 halfway through the clash.

Ten Doeschate was proud of Suryakumar Yadav and Co. as they managed to carry themselves commendably during the tournament.

"Let me first say, the amount of pressure that's been heaped on the players because of the situation, it's very difficult to control their behaviour. I did see some of the things Haris [Rauf] did and that's not our concern. Like I said earlier, we're really proud of how the guys carried themselves," ten Doeschate said in the pre-match press conference ahead of India's clash against Bangladesh on Wednesday, September 24, in Dubai.

"They fought fire with their bats on the field. I'm sure other teams have issues with some of the things we've done but from our side, we're delighted with how our guys have carried themselves in this tournament," he added.

I think we stuck to cricket really well: Ryan ten Doeschate

Ryan ten Doeschate expressed his happiness after seeing how the Indian players didn't digress from their plans in response to the controversial gestures from their Pakistani counterparts.

"Again, I will say given the situation you can see why guys are behaving and what they're trying to portray but we were very focused on how we wanted to behave. I think we stuck to cricket really well," ten Doeschate said.

"It would have been easy to lose our minds at that point given the celebration as well and some of the words during the game from the Pakistan bowling unit. I thought the guys stuck really well to the task of getting the job done and winning the game. Like I said, not at our very best so lots of things to work on but still managing to win rather comfortably is very pleasing for us," he added.
