"I understand as an ex-player winning and losing that part of the game. But again India has outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years," said Akram.

Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram admitted that it was difficult to watch Pakistan struggle against India, having been consistently outplayed over the past four or five years, following their latest defeat in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a ground where India have now won

The match, which saw some heated moments on the field between players of both sides, ultimately ended with India asserting dominance after a slow start. Salman Ali Agha’s team had shown signs of progress early on, posting their highest-ever T20I powerplay score against India. Nevertheless, Akram expressed his disappointment at the wide gap in talent between the two sides.

“I am going to speak my heart out. It is tough to watch Pakistan. I understand as an ex-player winning and losing that part of the game. But again India has outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years. Once or twice, we have won here and there, but it has been incredible from India. The talent, the depth, everything. One or two catches can be dropped in any game, that is fine. But from 91 in the first 10 overs, when we fail to reach 200, there is nothing to say,” Akram said on air as quoted by The Indian Express.

Akram was particularly annoyed and left stunned by Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz’s comical dismissal. The innings had already seen the hosts drop several catchable chances, but Nawaz fell to a sharp piece of fielding in the penultimate over of the first innings.

Nawaz strolled casually away from the crease, seemingly unaware of the danger, when Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav seized the moment. The Pakistan skipper had hit the ball to Varun Chakravarthy at square leg, and despite Jasprit Bumrah’s instructions to hold the ball, the spinner attempted a direct hit at the non-striker’s end and missed. The ball then reached Suryakumar, who, noticing Nawaz slowly returning to the crease as the ball appeared dead, threw it at the stumps, catching Nawaz completely off guard.
