Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja could not contain his excitement during India’s thrilling celebration at The Oval on August 4, following their dramatic six-run win in the fifth and final Test. With this victory, India leveled the five-match series 2-2, capping off a remarkable comeback on English soil.

Led by skipper Shubman Gill, the Indian team took a proud victory lap around the ground, basking in the applause of fans. Players posed for photos, waved to the crowd, and soaked in the moment after an intense battle. In a moment that caught attention online, Jadeja was seen pointing toward sections of the English crowd and jokingly saying, ‘Goron ke muh dekh’ (Look at their faces), playfully referring to their stunned expressions after the nail-biting finish.

Jadeja played a pivotal role in India’s drawn Test series in England. The left-handed batter finished the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as the fourth-highest run-scorer, amassing 516 runs at an impressive average of 86 across 10 innings against England. Alongside his batting prowess, Jadeja also contributed with the ball, taking seven wickets, including one four-wicket haul. His batting highlights included one century and five half-centuries.

India marked a historic milestone by winning the fifth Test of the series on foreign soil for the first time ever. Additionally, their six-run victory in the final Test was the narrowest-ever Test win by runs in the country’s cricketing history.

Following the thrilling series, the Indian Test team will take a short break before resuming their home season. Later this year, India will host four Test matches, two each against West Indies and South Africa. The series against West Indies is scheduled from October 2 to 14 in Ahmedabad and Delhi, followed by the South Africa series from November 14 to 26 in Kolkata and Guwahati.

Looking ahead to 2026, India are expected to tour Sri Lanka and New Zealand for two Tests each. Additionally, India will host Afghanistan for a one-off Test, which will not count towards the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27. India’s current WTC cycle will conclude with a five-match home Test series against Australia, starting in January 2027.
