Jasprit Bumrah was heard remarking about the lack of carry and the soft nature of the ball to Rishabh Pant in the very first over of the third Test of the ongoing five-match series between England and India. Bumrah's comments came after the fourth delivery of the opening over.

The aforementioned ball which was bowled to Ben Duckett was an out-swinger which the left-handed batter thought to be otherwise. The ball nipped away after pitching on the leg stump, drawing Duckett into outside edging the ball. However, even despite Pant's dive, he got to the ball on the half-volley.

It was then when Bumrah shared his taken on the Dukes ball and the apparent slow-paced nature of the Lord's deck. The ball before the fourth had not carried properly to Pant too. It will be intriguing to see as to how the pitch plays out for the remainder of the game.

His exact words to wicketkeeper Pant were, "Thoda aage reh. Ball carry nahi kar raha hai, thoda soft hain (Stand a little ahead, the ball isn't carrying further, Its soft)."

Speaking of the two squads, India and England both went ahead with a change apiece to their respective playing combinations. Prasidh Krishna and Josh Tongue were drafted out to accommodate Bumrah and Jofra Archer, respectively. This marks Archer's first Test appearance in a little over four years, whereas the Ahmedabad-born returned after a break from the Birmingham encounter.

The series is currently poised at one apiece. The Three Lions clinched the first match by a five-wicket margin by chasing down a monumental 371-run target in the fourth innings at Headingley. The Shubman Gill-led unit was back with a bang, winning the second match at Edgbaston by a whopping 336 runs in what was an absolute run-fest of a contest.

Both the teams would be hoping to put in match-defining performances at the Home of Cricket. Their primary aim would be to bat a lot better than they did in their second innings of the second Test. As for India, their main aim would be carrying forward the momentum and getting over the line to gain a crucial lead in the series.
