ENG vs WI 2025: Final ODI delayed due to late arrival of West Indies
The England team has already won the series after claiming the first two ODI matches.
The third and final ODI between West Indies and England is set to be played at the Kennington Oval in London on Tuesday, June 3. However, the match has been officially delayed due to unusual circumstances.
The news is the West Indies failed to arrive on time as their team bus was stuck in heavy traffic while they were trying to reach the venue. The match was scheduled to take place at 5:30pm IST (1:00pm local time). The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released a statement throwing light on the circumstances that took place ahead of the match.
“Due to a delayed arrival of one of the playing teams, who are stuck in heavy traffic north of the river, the scheduled start of play will be delayed. Once all members of the playing teams arrive, the match officials will coordinate updated timings and discuss any impact on the schedule of play,” the ECB statement read.
The West Indies did finally arrive and quickly made their way to the field for the warm-up. The toss has taken place and it is Harry Brook who won it and chose to bowl first. England have gone unchanged into the final game of the series while the West Indies on the other hand have made three changes where they have benched Jewel Andrew, Shimron Hetmyer and Matthew Ford and have replaced them with Evin Lewis, Sherfane Rutherford and Shamar Joseph.
England playing XI: Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook(c), Jos Buttler(w), Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Matthew Potts, Saqib Mahmood.
West Indies playing XI: Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope(w/c), Sherfane Rutherford, Justin Greaves, Roston Chase, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales.
