'He doesn't care if he gets out' - Manoj Tiwary reprimands 'disinterested' Glenn Maxwell after RCB's loss in Eliminator
"When you play for Australia, you perform so good," said Tiwary.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru were outclassed by Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2024 on May 22. The loss meant RCB’s winning streak of six matches and their IPL trophy quest ceded. While many things did not go their way in the game, Faf du Plessis quipped in the post-match presentation that the team was at least 20 runs short.
The glaring aspect of RCB’s batting lineup was Glenn Maxwell. When the team needed a responsible innings, Maxwell played a careless shot on the very first ball and departed. He was abysmal in the field as well dropping a sitter off Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Former India cricketer, Manoj Tiwary came hard on Maxwell for his sub-par outing and he asserted that the Aussie lacks interest in IPL.
“You have so much experience in international cricket... when you play for Australia, you perform so good. But as soon as you come to IPL, I don't know what happens to him. It seems he has no interest. He doesn't care if he get out. Bank balance thik hai, cheque pohoch jaaega time pe (his bank balance is fine, the cheque will reach him on time). He will do get-togethers in night, have a laugh and gets photos clicked,” said Tiwary on Cricbuzz.

The Men-in-Red orchestrated a comeback for aged as they were reeling at the 10th spot in the first half and won six consecutive games in the second. Du Plessis highlighted the same aspect after losing the Eliminator and sounded proud about his team's performance. However, Tiwary felt that the end goal for any team is to win the trophy and Bengaluru failed in that pursuit.

"What's the end result? You play to win. When Bengaluru weren't performing good, we were sitting right here and analysing why they weren't performing. At the end of the day, they might be happy that they won six back to back matches to qualify, but the end result is the trophy, which isn't there. So, the problem is there,” he added.
