Recently, on a TV show titled 'Captain Rohit's Legacy,' former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, alongside legends Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, and ex-England skipper Eoin Morgan, shed light on the legacy of Rohit Sharma as the Mumbai Indians captain. The discussion unveiled the captaincy journey of the prolific Indian batter.

Uthappa highlighted Sharma's captaincy evolution, noting his unique combination of inspiration from MS Dhoni while maintaining his distinctive style. Sharma has incorporated nuances from Dhoni but has also embraced his nonchalant approach, demonstrating a willingness to display emotions on the field, making his leadership style distinctive.

"He has picked up a lot of nuances from MS (Dhoni) and made it his own. Nonchalance is a way of life for him, but he's not afraid to show his emotions on the field. It's unique to Rohit," Uthappa remarked in a recent episode of the Legends Lounge series on JioCinema.

Echoing Uthappa's sentiments, Zaheer Khan described Sharma as both "intense" and "casual and said that being casual makes him approachable but he is very intense when he is going about his business and preparing.

"Being casual makes him approachable. But he is very intense when he is going about his business and preparing. That works in his favour brilliantly. He has a very good tactical understanding of the game," Khan said.

Adding his insights to the conversation, Eoin Morgan also praised Rohit's ability to manipulate the pace of the game and emphasised his knack for finding the right balance within the team.

"His authentic passion separates him from others," Morgan remarked. "He has made analysis a cornerstone for the team he is leading. He has always found the right balance in the team whether he is in or out of form."

The show was more focused on the recent announcement by Mumbai Indians appointing all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their captain for the upcoming IPL 2024 season, succeeding Rohit, who led the team to five IPL titles. Pandya, returning to Mumbai Indians after a stint with Gujarat Titans, looks set to carve his own captaincy path in the upcoming season.
