‘I don't understand it’ - Kate Cross gives her take on rumours of The Hundred getting scrapped

Very few tournaments in world cricket have gone on to make a greater impact on the women’s game than The Hundred Women’s. Over the years, the tournament has made a big impact on women’s sports by providing them with a platform to take their game to the next level.
It is clear that the crowd's support has grown significantly as well. However, recently, there have been rumours that the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) has been pondering the possibility of scrapping The Hundred and replacing it with a T20 league.
With the rumours fueling up in recent months, English pacer Kate Cross came forward to opine that she does not understand the origin of such rumours. Cross opined that The Hundred Women has done so much for the game with the extensive crowd support and stated that the people who do not watch the tournament have a louder opinion than the people who do.
"I don't understand it, I don't know where that speculation is coming from; it doesn't seem to be the ECB, and Sky certainly don't know anything about it, and they've obviously paid the broadcast bill for it. The crowds have grown and the standard of cricket has been better: the boundaries have been pushed out further, but the average score has still managed to go up," Kate Cross was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
"It has done so, so much for the women's game. That's what winds me up the most about people who don't buy into it. If you actually speak to people that are in the ground, so many people say what a great day out they've had but I don't think that gets reported on. The people who don't go to the games and don't like it seem to have a louder opinion than actually the people that are there," she added.
Cross' next assignment in The Hundred Women's is to compete in the Eliminator of the tournament when Northern Superchargers women take on Welsh Fire women at The Oval in London on Saturday, August 26. She will be competing against her close friend, Alex Hartley, who could potentially be playing her last game as both sides clash for a spot in the summit clash.
