Australia and Sydney Thunder batter David Warner has expressed that he is ‘exhausted’ due to hectic home season and would prefer skipping the Cricket Australia awards coming Monday. The batter also added that he would like to recover just in time for the forthcoming red-ball series against fierce rivals India away from home.

The southpaw’s hectic summer officially came to a conclusion on Friday night after his team Sydney Thunder was eliminated from the knock-out rounds by Brisbane Heat in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL). Prior to the participation in the top-tier league, the opener was engaged in a multi-format series against Zimbabwe, New Zealand, England, the West Indies, South Africa and was also part of the T20 World Cup squad.

"It's been challenging. I'm quite tired, exhausted. There are a few guys who have gone to the UAE League, which aren't going to the Cricket Australia awards. From my perspective, that would've been nice to have had another night at home. But it is what it is,” Warner was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Going to have to try and work out how to stay nice and fresh: David Warner

Warner, who is a part of the squad for the Test series against India, further added that he will work on staying fresh ahead of the games leading into the summer considering the ODI World Cup on the horizon.

"Hopefully next year I can come out and be a little bit fresher than what I am at the moment. It's going to be a long lead-in to our summer [that includes the ODI World Cup in India]. From a personal point of view, I'm going to have to try and work out how to stay nice and fresh,” he added.

Australia take up their next assignment against team India in a Test series as the two sides eye for a spot in the summit clash of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle. The two sides will lock horns in a four-match red-ball series scheduled to commence on February 9.
