IPL 2023 Coaches and Support Staffs: All you need to know
KKR, SRH and PBKS appointed new head coaches while a lot of franchises made changes to their overall coaching unit.
After a breathtaking previous edition, a lot of franchises decided to start fresh and appointed new personnel to boost their chances of winning the all-important IPL trophy. After failing to qualify for the playoffs of the last season, Punjab Kings decided to sack their captain Mayank Agarwal and head coach Anil Kumble while former Kolkata Knight Riders coach Brendon McCullum took the responsibility of the England Test squad.
Meanwhile, the five-time champions Mumbai Indians promoted ace pacer, Zaheer Khan, as global head of cricket development while Mahela Jayawardene earned a promotion from head coach to global head of performance. They also appointed Mark Boucher as the head coach while Kieron Pollard will be seen as their new batting coach.
Chennai Super Kings, the second-most successful franchise of the league is not someone who likes to make changes to their coaching unit. However, after Dwayne Bravo’s retirement from the IPL, the Caribbean great found a place in their coaching system as he was announced as CSK’s bowling coach for the upcoming season.
In the meantime, Lucknow Super Giants promoted Gautam Gambhir as their global mentor while Brian Lara has earned a promotion and replaced Tom Moody as the head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
