Talking Points:
1) Young pacers showcased their talent
Sunrisers Hyderabad found positives in their bowling attack as youngsters stepped up and impressed alongside the experienced campaigners. Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain rattled the top order and briefly shifted the momentum in SRH’s favour. The duo accounted for key wickets, including Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler, putting Gujarat Titans under early pressure.
2) Sundar’s late fireworks powered GT
While Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a crucial 61-run knock, it was Washington Sundar who provided the late acceleration for Gujarat Titans. The all-rounder played an unbeaten half-century at a strike rate of over 150, attacking the bowlers in the death overs and helping GT post a competitive total on the board.
3) GT bowlers never allowed SRH to settle
Gujarat Titans bowlers dominated the chase right from the beginning by striking at regular intervals and keeping the pressure firmly on the SRH batters. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder led the bowling attack with three wickets each, while the rest of the bowling unit contributed effectively to wrap up the innings quickly and seal a commanding victory.
Who said what?
Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad (Losing Captain)
I feel they bowled really well in that second innings. I was pretty happy with when we walked off at the start, but yeah, pretty tricky wicket. I think they made the most of it, their bowlers, they bowled really well. So, yeah, maybe try and look at ways to get through that spell, but, you know, they deserve a bit of credit. Yeah, I mean, you always look at it. It looked like a pretty tough wicket once you kind of hit that back of the length and they didn't really give us much to score. So, perhaps in our bowling innings, you kind of, you learn from that, you think maybe we could have held our lengths just a little bit longer. But overall, you know, I thought that, that's as good as T20 bowling as you're going to see from them. Our batting order's been fantastic. So I don't think we need to read it too far into today. I think all four of our top four have over 400 runs. So, the guys are going really well. This happens in T20 cricket. So we go to a couple of venues that we know quite well. So, take some confidence into that. (On qualification scenarios) I think getting ahead of the count pretty early (is important). I think we won five or six out of the last seven. Gives you a bit of breathing room these last few games. So, yeah, we've still got two games yet to qualify. So again, going back to what got us those wins in the first place and yeah, putting this one behind us pretty quickly.
Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans (Winning Captain)
It worked out well for us on a tricky wicket. We spoke about getting anywhere close to 160-170 with out bowling attack and make it hard for them. The way we bowled in the powerplay helped us set up the game. Honestly it's about being consistent. He is such an experienced candidate for us. Bowling four overs in this humidity is not easy.
Kagiso Rabada, Player of the Match
I didn't judge the catch properly, would have been nice to get one more wicket. Season in and season out, only try to do the best for the team. Just leave everything out there for the team. Rythm is everything and you need to find a way to somehow click. It's just about finding out the kind of wicket we are playing and see how much you can extract without looking at too far ahead. 100%, they showed us how to bowl on this wicket and we did it better.
