Lord’s to host first women’s Test with England vs India in July 2026
The men's team's T20I and ODI series will be played each side of the one-off women's Test.
The iconic Lord's in London will feature the first-ever women's Test in its history by scheduling a Test between England Women and India Women next year. The same was confirmed on Thursday, July 24 as the English board confirmed the same while also announcing their upcoming calendar for the home summer of 2026.
The one-off Test between the cricketing powerhouses is slated for July 10 in 2026. The two sides will also face each other in three T20Is; Chelmsford on May 28, Bristol on May 30, and Taunton on June 2. Richard Gould — the Chief Executive Officer of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a message on the same. Gould also shed light on the upcoming edition of the Women's T20 World Cup and how it served as a huge moment for women's cricket.
“We're thrilled that Lord's will host an England Women's Test match for the first time, marking a really special period of time for the women's game. The highlight of the summer will undoubtedly be the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, hosted here in England for the first time since 2009. It's a huge moment for the women's game, for Nat Sciver-Brunt and her team, and it's a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation of players and fans,” an ECB statement quoted Gould as saying.
ECB wants fans to witness the very best
The England vs India men's T20I and ODI series will be played each side of the one-off women's Test. The five 20-over matches will be played in Durham (July 1), Manchester (July 4), Nottingham (July 7), Bristol (July 9), and Southampton (July 11). The three ODIs are scheduled at Birmingham from July 14, followed by matches at Cardiff, on July 16 and Lord's on July 19.
“We're really excited to unveil what promises to be a spectacular summer of international cricket in 2026. With world-class opposition visiting iconic venues across the country, fans will have the chance to witness the very best of the men's and women's game,” the statement read further.
India Women emerged victorious by a colossal 347-run margin against the English, the last time the two countries faced each other in Test cricket. Deepti Sharma managed to secure the Player of the Match accolade (67 & 5/7 — 1st inns; 20, 4/32 — 2nd inns). The Indian side will hope to return with a similar performance
