Litton Das has communicated his willingness to take over Bangladesh's Test captaincy if the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is ready to trust him with the responsibility. Litton is currently Bangladesh's T20 skipper.

However, Litton remains unsure whether the BCB will approach him and admitted that he has not heard anything from the board regarding the vacant slot. His remarks come after Najmul Hossain Shanto's decision to step down as the skipper following the home series against Sri Lanka.

"It's very difficult. So far, I don't know anything about it. If they feel I'm capable, obviously they will have a conversation with me. Let's see what their decision is. As a player, captaining the Test side is a big achievement. I'm sure no player would say no to it. But so far, I haven't heard anything from the cricket board," stated Litton, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Litton said that he is looking forward to the upcoming assignments against West Indies and Ireland. He also mentioned that the exposure gained through these series will come in handy while featuring in the T20 World Cup next year.

"To be honest, in these two series, I want our players to be put under pressure and face challenges - whether in batting or bowling. In these six games, if we fall behind and manage to come back, that will be great for us. I'm talking about challenges within the match. I want the bowlers to perform well under pressure. Since we have a (T20) World Cup coming up, these experiences will help us prepare better," he added.

Bangladesh are coming on the back of a 2-1 ODI series win against the Windies. They emerged victorious in the first and third match. The Tigers had the second match in their hands as well. However, they lost out after the match was decided via a Super Over.
