Sarfaraz Khan is being reported to be putting in the hard yards for the upcoming tour of England, particularly in relation to his diet. He is said to be following a strict diet plan under the guidance of his father, Naushad Khan, in which he has shed a whopping 10 kg.

Sarfaraz was recently included to represent India A for their two four-day games against England Lions ahead of India's upcoming five-Test tour of England. The 27-year-old last played a tour match in Canberra late last year, and is yet to represent the nation in overseas conditions.

The intense dietary routine includes boiled vegetables and chicken, as per India Today. He is understood to be working on deliveries outside off-stump while practicing twice a day for long hours.

Sarfaraz has played a total of six Tests so far. He has been quite impressive in his nascent career so far. The middle-order batter has registered 371 runs, comprising three fifties and one hundred to his name. Although Sarfaraz was included in the Indian squad for the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he did not get a chance to don the whites throughout the entirety of the series.

As far as his prospects in the Indian team stand, two slots are up for grabs in the red-ball setup with the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. If Sarfaraz manages to impress the team management with his performances for India A, he might be in with a solid chance of making it through to the side. As per the Instagram story put out by Sarfaraz today it appears he has been toiling extremely hard under Naushad to succeed in his next major overseas assignment.

As far as the next captain is concerned, Shubman Gill has emerged as the leading candidate for shouldering the role. It remains to be seen which members from the India A side make it to the India one.
