The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former Australian speedster Shaun Tait as the new pace bowling coach for the national men’s team. The 42-year-old replaces New Zealand's Andre Adams, who parted ways with the team following Bangladesh's disappointing outings in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Tait has signed a contract that will see him remain in the role until November 2027.

The former pacer comes with immense international experience both as a player and a coach. As a player, he represented Australia in 59 international matches, picking 95 wickets across formats. He was part of Australia’s victorious 2007 ODI World Cup squad.

Following his retirement, Tait took up coaching duties and has served bowling coach roles with Pakistan, West Indies (Test team), and Afghanistan. He has also worked in several franchise leagues, including the BPL, BBL, PSL, LPL, and English county cricket. Tait revealed about working with a young and solid group of Bangladesh fast bowlers. The 42-year-old also spoke about the opportunity to work alongside head coach Phil Simmons.

"It's a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like. It's been spoken about many times recently-the young talent with the fast bowlers-which is great. This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast bowling group and, most importantly, getting more wins for the team. To have the opportunity to work with Phil Simmons is equally as exciting, and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead," Tait said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, the Tigers recently played a two-Test series against Zimbabwe and are scheduled to face the UAE in T20Is on May 17 and 19 in Sharjah. These matches are set to be looked up as a warm-up for fixtures against Pakistan and Sri Lanka later in the year.
