Bangladesh pace bowling coach Shaun Tait is unlikely to continue with the national team setup, with his availability for the upcoming home series against Australia now in serious doubt. A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed the development and said Tait has already informed the board of his decision.

However, it remains unclear whether he will arrive on June 3, as originally scheduled, to join the preparation camp. Bangladesh are set to host Australia in a six-match tour featuring three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals later this year.

"I am not sure whether he (Tait) will come to join the team ahead of the Australia series or not, considering he is not ready to continue, citing family reasons," a BCB official said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh pace bowling coach Shaun Tait is set to leave his role with the national team despite being contracted with the BCB until the 2027 ODI World Cup. Appointed in May 2025, the former Australian fast bowler enjoyed a productive tenure and earned praise for helping develop young speedster Nahid Rana, who has emerged as one of Bangladesh’s most exciting talents with his raw pace and consistent performances.

Tait’s future with the team has been under scrutiny in recent months, with reports linking him to a coaching role with Bengal in India. He is understood to have already attended an interview for the position.

Meanwhile, Australia are scheduled to tour Bangladesh from June 9 to 21 for a six-match white-ball series. The three ODIs will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on June 9, 11 and 14. The action will then move to Chattogram, where the teams will contest three T20 Internationals at the Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium on June 17, 19 and 21. Tait’s involvement in the series preparations remains uncertain.

Speaking of Tait's playing career, the pacer enjoyed considerable success across limited-overs formats. He claimed more than 200 wickets in T20 cricket and over 150 wickets in List A matches, showcasing his effectiveness as a genuine pace threat. Known for regularly bowling at speeds exceeding 150 km/h, Tait was one of the quickest bowlers of his generation.
