Ben Stokes has been appointed as the mentor by Northern Superchargers for the remainder of The Hundred Men's 2025. He is currently recuperating from an injury that took a blow on his left shoulder during the recently-concluded Test series between England and India.

The announcement of Stokes missing the 100-ball competition had already been announced well before the commencement of the tournament in February. The main reason provided was managing his workload prior to the Ashes Down Under later this year.

The English red-ball skipper would not have been able to play either way, considering the fact that he sustained the injury to his shoulder in the red-ball series. The 34-year-old will join the Superchargers' backroom staff, with former English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff as the head coach of the franchise.

Stokes has played for Northern Superchargers during the 2021 (two matches) and 2024 (three matches) editions of marquee English tournament. The star all-rounder could have played a few more matches in 2024, however, a nasty hamstring tear during one of the matches ruled him out for the entirety of the English summer last year, as he remained unavailable for key Test series as well, where Ollie Pope captained the side in his absence.

So far, the Superchargers have played only once and got their season off to a winning start by defeating Welsh Fire by eight wickets and 11 balls to spare at Headingley. Zak Crawley was adjudged with the Player of the Match accolade for the couple of catches he pouched in addition to his unbeaten 48-ball 67-run knock during the run-chase.

The recent Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was quite a decent one for Stokes, both as captain and as an individual. He came to his team's rescue with the bat on multiple occasions and bowled lengthy spells while supporting his pace-bowling unit on the field. All in all, Stokes ended up registering 304 runs in seven innings and 17 wickets in eight innings in the four matches he played. Stokes was rested for the final contest at The Oval, which England eventually lost by six runs.
