‘They never doubted my ability’ - Ruturaj Gaikwad 'grateful' to be surrounded by supportive family

The ongoing season of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 has seen five-time champions Chennai Super Kings under new leadership. After being led by MS Dhoni since the start of the tournament, the team is now under the leadership of rising Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad and the 27-year-old has done a commendable job so far. In his first season as captain, Gaikwad has led CSK to four wins in seven games this season.
However, the skipper has not really gotten off the gears with the bat. He recently came forward and talked about the importance of family and how lucky he is to have all the support in the world. He also emphasised the importance of getting support from his family when he fails to perform.

“You need support from your family, when you play in your city, sometimes you don't score, don't perform, and you don't want them to overburden you, talk to you about things like ‘why couldn’t you perform today?’ and I think that never happened from their side that they ever doubted my ability or they ever doubted my effort. So, I think in that sense I am really grateful that they have been supporting me right from the start,” Ruturaj Gaikwad said in a video shared by Star Sports.
CSK take on LSG as playoffs race intensifies
Speaking about CSK, the side will continue its IPL 2024 campaign against the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in the 39th game of the tournament on April 23.
Both CSK and LSG are neck and neck in the IPL 2024 standings. The five-time champions occupy fourth place with eight points in seven matches. On the other hand, LSG occupy fifth place with the same number of points as CSK but an inferior run rate.
