[Watch] Blast 2025: Jordan Cox smashes 11 fours, 11 sixes in maiden T20 hundred
Essex chased down 221 with four deliveries to spare on the back of Cox's innings.
Jordon Cox smashed his first T20 hundred in a South Group clash between Essex and Hampshire during the 2025 Blast. Cox's unbeaten 60-ball 139-run blitzkrieg ensured his side ended up chasing the 221-run target with four deliveries to spare.
Arriving to bat in the third over of the chase, he had his work cut out with a massive total ahead of him. After a quiet initial few deliveries, Cox tore into James Fuller's first over to secure 19 off it. He scored the same number of runs in Benny Howell's first over as he raced to a 22-ball half-century by the end of the eighth over.
Cox showed no mercy to Howell in his second over either, smashing him for three consecutive sixes to enter into the 80s. He brought up his ton on the first ball of the 17th over. By the end of Chris Wood's fourth, Essex still required 41 runs off three overs, having lost six wickets. Simon Harmer, Cox's partner at the other end, only faced two deliveries in the 18th and 19th overs of the innings.
With 11 runs required off the final over, the 24-year-old finished things in style by smashing the first couple of deliveries for colossal sixes to script an iconic win for Essex with a knock for the ages. The right-handed batter finished with 11 fours and as many sixes under his belt.

In general, it has been a season to forget for Cox and Essex alike. This was only their third win of the season with a game to go. In the 13 matches Essex have played until now, they have won three, lost nine, and had called off as a no-result. Interestingly, Cox had performed quite well with the bat in the rain-affected game, scoring 82 off 47 in the 17-overs-a-side contest.
