Former Indian cricketer Anjum Chopra feels Delhi Capitals are likely to bid aggressively for Alyssa Healy at the upcoming mega auction for the 2026 Women's Premier League. Healy previously led UP Warriorz in the first two installments of the WPL before skipping the previous season after due to a foot injury.

Anjum felt a player of Healy's prowess will be hard to ignore for the Capitals, who did not retain the seasoned Meg Lanning while releasing their retained players' list.

"Alyssa Healy is a formidable player with vast experience that can’t be overlooked. Delhi might consider her strongly as they look to fill the wicket-keeping role, so there’s likely to be considerable interest from that side,” stated Chopra on JioHotstar’s show ‘Most Wanted: TATA WPL 2026 Auction’.

The ex-Indian captain also spoke on another player from the UP Warriorz who did not get retained, Sophie Ecclestone. According to Anjum, the Warriorz could possibly use the Right to Match (RTM) card on her.

"Ecclestone is a true match-winner and will undoubtedly command a strong price at the auction. Given the budgets teams currently have, she won’t come cheap. Most teams are likely to consider her as a key acquisition. Her left-arm spin and control make her a valuable asset. While Delhi and Mumbai might not prioritise her, teams like UP Warriorz will definitely look to use their RTM card on her. Even Delhi could consider bringing her on board as a strategic option,” she added.

Delhi Capitals have retained Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp and Niki Prasad. They still have 13 spots to fill (including a maximum of four overseas spots) with a purse of INR 5.7 crore remaining.

Healy and Ecclestone are currently representing Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers in the ongoing installment of the Women's Big Bash League, respectively. Both of them have been included in the marquee set of the mega auction, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on November 27.
