India came into the T20 World Cup 2026 on the back of splendid form. Since Suryakumar Yadav took up captaincy, the Men in Blue have not lost a T20I series. They won all four games in the group stage but lost in the Super 8 clash against South Africa by 76 runs. The heavy defeat leaves them with no other choice but to win their last two games comprehensively against Zimbabwe and the West Indies.

Since the defeat to South Africa, some players who have not performed well during the tournament have received considerable criticism. In this article, we take a look at three Indian players who should be dropped after the T20 World Cup.

Washington Sundar drew criticism from fans and experts due to his lacklustre performance against South Africa. The Indian team management was also slammed for selecting the all-rounder over vice-captain Axar Patel, who has won many games for India with both bat and ball.

Sundar was brought into the side to counter the three left-handers in South Africa's batting line-up. However, the likes of Sanjay Manjrekar and Aakash Chopra noted that it didn't give India any advantage, as Sundar conceded 17 runs in two overs and scored a run-a-ball 11 with the bat.
