In order to earn direct qualification for the upcoming ODI World Cup, South Africa cannot afford to drop any points in the remaining two matches against the Netherlands. Notably, the first match of the series took place on November 26, 2021, but it was called off due to heavy rain. The series eventually got postponed due to COVID-19 and is now all set to resume on Friday, March 31 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

When it comes to the visiting team, they are already out of the race to qualify directly for the World Cup and are at the bottom of the table in the ODI Super League. Thus, the Scott Edwards-led side will have to play the qualifiers in order to play in the ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, when it comes to their form, they recently lost to Zimbabwe and were also handed a three-wicket defeat against the South African Invitation XI.

Thus, things are not working well for the Dutch side at the moment. However, when these two teams last locked in international cricket, the Netherlands stunned South Africa by knocking them out of the T20 World Cup 2022. Thus, they will be confident of doing something similar this time as well, since South Africa is not in great form in white-ball cricket at the moment.

It is because of which Cricket South Africa has named a strong squad for the upcoming series. None of the players are leaving for the Indian Premier League and that speaks volumes. Notably, ace pacer Kagiso Rabada recently stated that everyone in the team is really happy with the new management and that can play a huge part in the series.

Meanwhile, in their last series against West Indies, the team was chopping and changing a lot and now, it is to be seen if they once again go ahead with the same strategy.

Pitch & Conditions:

The surface in Benoniis is pretty good for the batters to do well. However, bowling first will be ideal and anything above 260 will be a good score on board.
