Oval Invincibles clinched their third consecutive The Hundred title with a 26-run win over Trent Rockets at Lord’s on Sunday. Heroics by Will Jacks and Nathan Sowter, Sam Billings-led team created history by completing a hat-trick of trophies.

Put into bat, Oval Invincibles lost Tawanda Muyeye early but soon found their way back into the game. Jacks came out all guns blazing, hammering seven fours and two sixes en route to a solid 72 off 41 balls. Notably, he became the first batter to score 1,000 runs for the franchise.

Jordan Cox, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, provided crucial support with 40 off 28 balls. The duo stitched an 87-run stand off 55 deliveries. Even though the Invincibles' run-rate slowed down in the final overs, managing only 25 runs in the last 20 balls, they still posted 168/5.

In reply, Trent Rockets began cautiously with Tom Banton and Joe Root opening the innings. However, Sowter removed Root, Rehan Ahmed, and Banton in the space of 10 balls. His spell of 3/25 completely put the Rockets on the back foot and eventually earned him the Player of the Match award.

Marcus Stoinis provided some fight with a 64 off 38 balls. Despite Ross Whiteley’s brief cameo, the Rockets fell short at 142/8, handing the Invincibles a comfortable win. Meanwhile, Sam Billings lifted his third straight Hundred title and has now won five franchise T20 trophies in his career, joining an elite group of captains.

"Incredible. Very very special. Has been a brilliant group over the course of the last few years. Very proud of everyone involved. Lot of work goes in behind the scenes as well, support staff are incredible. He encapsulates this group perfectly (Sowter). Has been with us from the start, bundle of energy and puts his heart on the line everytime. He's been fantastic for us. Real group effort over the course of three years. Everyone has contributed which is what great teams do. Learnt a huge amount off Tom (Moody). He's done it all over the world, built environments, built cultures to be successful. The aura that he has, he keeps us on our toes," Billings said at the post-match interview.
