New Zealand extended their winning streak in the tri-series to three matches as they got the better of South Africa by seven wickets in match No. 5 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Tuesday, July 22.
After winning the toss, Mitchell Santner had no hesitation in opting to bowl first. There was a lot of movement on offer for the New Zealand seamers, and they capitalised on it. Rassie van der Dussen, who moved up to open the batting in place of Lhuan-dre Pretorius, threw his wicket away in the third over.
Reeza Hendricks and Rubin Hermann struggled to deal with the favourable bowling conditions as their partnership yielded just 20 runs off 27 balls. From 34/1 in the seventh over, South Africa slumped to 57/4 in the 11th. Hendricks was dismissed for 41 after he had played 37 deliveries.
Lower down the order, George Linde contributed with an unbeaten 15-ball 23, as the Proteas finished on 134/8. Adam Milne, Santner, and Jacob Duffy bagged two wickets apiece.
In the second innings, Linde bowled the first over, and he created an opportunity as Tim Seifert hit a delivery straight to Andile Simelane at long-off. However, the 22-year-old failed to hold on to the regulation chance. Seifert didn't look back after this reprieve as he took the South African bowlers to the cleaners.
Devon Conway tried to break the shackles but perished in the final over of powerplay. Rachin Ravindra was also dismissed in the following over, but the Kiwis were still cruising in the run-chase. Mark Chapman became Senuran Muthsamy's second victim of the day. Seifert, on the other hand, notched up his 11th T20I half-century.

Muthusamy was the pick of the South African bowlers as he picked up two wickets in four overs, conceding 24 runs. The wicketkeeper-batter was awarded Player of the Match for his decisive innings.
