Virat Kohli smashes five massive records with 62nd IPL fifty in style
Virat Kohli has 3 of the top 5 records for the batters with the most runs against a single IPL opponent.
Virat Kohli played arguably the best knock of IPL 2025 in the 52nd match between RCB and CSK at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In the process, the star batter broke yet another massive record.
Notably, he became the batter with the most runs against a single opponent in the history of the league. Not just that, the legend went on to shatter five huge records during his thrilling half-century knock.
1. Most runs against an IPL rival
Kohli now has 1,146 runs in 34 innings at an average of 38.20, with a strike rate of 127.75 and a best score of 90*, including 10 fifty-plus scores against RCB's arch-rivals. His tally includes 83 fours and 48 sixes—impressive numbers for a player with great longevity in the league. Amidst criticism of his strike rate, Kohli once again showed his ability to bat aggressively.
Among the list of batters with the most runs against a single opponent, Kohli holds three of the top four spots. David Warner is second on the list with 1,134 runs against PBKS. Kohli also has 1,130 and 1,104 runs against DC and PBKS, respectively.
2. Most half-centuries against CSK
It was a memorable night for the star batter, who played a magnificent knock. In the powerplay overs, the RCB opener scored 29 runs off 13 balls against quality bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj. In the middle overs, Kohli was aggressive against Ravindra Jadeja and continued to dominate the pacers.
The hallmark of Virat’s knock was his method of scoring. He did not attempt to over-hit the ball but instead relied on classy drives and flick shots. Some of his strokes were breathtaking to watch. The RCB batter scored his 10th fifty against CSK—the most by any batter in the league.
3. Four back-to-back fifties for RCB
The talismanic batter has been in sublime form this season. Tonight’s fifty was his fourth consecutive half-century for the Bengaluru franchise. Previously, Kohli showcased similar consistency in the 2016 edition of the IPL, when he also scored as many fifties in a single season of the cash-rich league.

4. 300-plus sixes for a team in T20s
In addition to the above milestones, the Delhi-born batter also displayed his big-hitting skills during an entertaining knock. Not only did he break records for half-centuries, but he also set new benchmarks related to six-hitting. Kohli crossed the 300 sixes mark after smashing five during his innings.
After today’s innings, Virat Kohli now has 304 sixes to his name. Only the legendary Chris Gayle is ahead of him with 263 sixes for RCB. Among other IPL franchises, Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians trails Gayle by just one six, with 262.
5. Most sixes at a single venue in T20s
Before Match 52 of IPL 2025, Chris Gayle held this unique record with 151 sixes at a single venue. However, Kohli surpassed the ‘Universe Boss’ with his blitz and finished with 152 sixes at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. As a result, he now holds the record for the most sixes by a batter at a single ground.
During his time at the crease, the right-hander scored 62 runs off 33 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes, at a strike rate of 187.77. He laid a solid platform for the batters to follow, easing any scoreboard pressure. Kohli once again proved why he remains one of the finest batters in IPL history.
