Dog steals the ball to bring Ireland domestic game to a halt, video goes viral
The incident happened during the ninth over of the match.
Often there comes certain instances whilst the match that grabs the attention of the cricket on-lookers. Something that fetched a lot of attention during an Irish domestic women’s game is the invasion of a dog into the field. The dog interrupted the match of the All-Ireland semi-final which was played between Bready and CSNI at Bready Cricket Club.
This happened during the ninth over of the match. The game was already reduced to 12 overs a side due to rain. Abbi Leckey hit the ball behind square on the off-side area and it was supposed to be an overthrow as wicketkeeper Rachel Hepburn missed it but the dog entered the scenario at that very moment to halt the play.

The dog seemed to be desperate to get into the action as he ran to the field. There was a leash around his neck but there was no owner spotted. Picking up the ball, the dog ran all over the ground. Finally, a spectator arrived on the ground who started chasing the dog. By the time he can catch up with the speed of the dog, the pet went to non-striker Aoife Fisher and finally left the ball.
This hilarious incident amazed the players and the audiences. The video of the dog entering the field went viral on social media.

About the Ireland national team, they were scheduled to battle it out against Zimbabwe for five T20Is and three ODIs. In the T20I series, Zimbabwe took an early lead by winning the first T20I. However, Ireland bounced back stronger to clinch three consecutive victories and seal the series. Paul Stirling was the highest run-getter for Ireland in the series as he chipped in 234 runs at an average of 58.50. On the other hand, Mark Adair scalped 10 wickets and topped the list of wicket-takers.
About the ODI series, Zimbabwe won the first ODI by 38 runs. Zimbabwe posted the target of 266 on the board and went on to defend it. They wrapped up the innings of Ireland at 228. The second ODI had to be called off because of rain. Thus heading into the third ODI on Monday, September 13, both the teams will look to bring their A-game to the table.
