'Characterless' - Mohammed Shami's estranged wife levels serious allegations in Instagram post
Recently, the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday, July 2, directed Mohammed Shami to pay INR 1.5 lakh to her wife and INR 2.5 lakh to her daughter every month.
India’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami has landed in controversy once again after his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, shared a shocking Instagram post accusing him of criminal misconduct.
The allegations come days after the Calcutta High Court on July 2 ordered Shami to pay a total of INR 4 lakh monthly as maintenance, INR 1.5 lakh to Jahan, and INR 2.5 lakh to their daughter Aaira. The order is to be imposed seven years ago and was passed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. On Friday, July 4, Jahan took to Instagram, accusing Shami.
“Till my last breath, we will have a strong relationship, Inshallah. The only thing left is for you to decide what kind of strong relationship that will be. For 7 years, we’ve been involved in a legal battle. What have you gained from it? Because of being characterless, greedy, and mean-minded, you ended up destroying your own family. How many criminals did you bribe to harm me, defame me, harass me, and defeat me everywhere?
Did you achieve anything? The money you wasted on crooks and prostitutes. If you had spent that on your daughter’s education, life, and future, and given me a good life, things would’ve been so much better. You would’ve been saved from sin, and we could’ve lived a respectful and dignified life. You took advantage of a male-dominated society and stayed happy while antisocial people called me wrong. Now I will take the help of the law, claim all our rights, and live happily, Inshallah. Now you think: which support is stronger—social or legal? But remember: all the antisocial people giving you moral support right now are supporting your sins. The day your bad time begins, these same people will make your life hell, Inshallah. Have faith in that," she wrote.
Jahan and Shami married in 2014 and welcomed their daughter in 2015. However, their relationship hit rock bottom in 2018 when Jahan, a former model and KKR cheerleader, accused the cricketer of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and even match-fixing. The allegations led to a prolonged legal battle, with Jahan claiming Shami had cut off financial support and misused his wealth.
She had initially been awarded INR 50,000 per month for herself and INR 80,000 for her daughter by a lower court in 2023, a decision she contested in the High Court. Her legal team argued that given Shami’s annual income of over INR 7 crore, the earlier order was insufficient.

Shami misses England tour due to fitness concerns
Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court’s ruling significantly increases Shami’s financial obligations, which now stand at INR 4 lakh per month with arrears dating back to 2017. Despite the serious allegations, the pacer has consistently denied all charges. He continues to be part of Indian cricket, although he missed the ongoing England Test series due to fitness concerns.
