Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Stats

The ninth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup will begin on October 3, 2024, with the final slated to take place on October 20 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh had the rights to host the tournament but due to the recent violence in the country, the International Cricket Council had to shift it to UAE.

Now, the surfaces in UAE will heavily support the spinners. Australia and India have already taken note of that and announced squads with multiple spinners in the team.  Normally, pacers always had the upper hand in women’s cricket but things have changed in recent times with the likes of Sophie Ecclestone, Alana King, Ashleigh Gardner and Amelia Kerr among many others.

India have also named Shreyanka Patil and Asha Sobhana in their squad who can be effective. Pacers however won’t be ineffective at all. Some of the legends of the game like Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Heather Knight, Lea Tahuhu, Hayley Mathews and Megan Schutt among others would play a vital role in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the batters dominate the T20 format. Since not a lot of cricket has been played in UAE recently, the surfaces would be fresh and the batters would enjoy their time in the middle. Suzie Bates, the leading run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup will play a key part for New Zealand once again. Alyssa Healy, Australia’s leading run-scorer will be leading the team this time around and will be very crucial for the team.

Among Indians, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur will be vital, Chamari Athapathu will be crucial for Sri Lanka, Laura Wolvaardt for South Africa and Hayley Mathews for West Indies.
