ECB announce 17-member women's Ashes squad

The men’s Ashes is currently on in Australia and in the same light, ECB have come up with the Women’s Ashes squad consisting of seventeen members. They have also come up with a junior squad consisting of 12 members. The schedule is all set to get underway from January 27, 2022.
The schedule will consist of a one-off Test match followed by three T20Is and the same number of ODIs. Talking in terms of the high-profile series, English head coach Lisa Keightley stated that it will be exciting to move to Australia and take on the challenge of winning the Ashes.

“This is the first time we’ve taken an England Women’s A squad alongside the senior team, which is a big step forward for us. It gives us great depth, and provides so much competition for places. It’s also an invaluable development opportunity for those players pushing for senior selection,” she added.
Keightley also added that it would be a great chance to get more 50-over cricket under their belts ahead of the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand. She expressed her happiness on having a blend of young and experience in the squad ahead of high profile tournament.

“Similarly, it’s also a good chance to get more 50-over cricket under our belts ahead of our defense of the ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. We’ve got a nice blend of experienced pros and youngsters, and it’s a trip we’ve been preparing for since the end of our summer. A multi-format series is a great test of all our skills, and we can’t wait to get out there,” she concluded.
