'Female angle lana zaroori nahi hota' - Irfan Pathan stuns Suresh Raina with hilarious April Fool's Day prank

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is underway and fans all over the world are enjoying the cricket carnival. While the current cricketers are entertaining fans with their on-field heroics, the former ones are presenting their assessment and analysis in the commentary box and expert panel. Former Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina belong to the latter category.

The former teammates are serving as experts for broadcaster Star Sports in the ongoing competition. While several fans have been lauding their assessment of the game, Irfan and Raina bagged the limelight due to a different reason on April 1. Notably, this date marks April Fools Day’ and Irfan celebrated the occasion with a hilarious prank on Raina.

The duo was discussing the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings when things seemingly got heated up. As Irfan noted that PBKS were the ‘favourites’ going into the contest and explained how strong the team is this season, Raina reminded everyone that the former all-rounder has played for the franchise in the past.

The former Chennai Super kings batter further brought actress Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the franchise, in his conversation and the same got Irfan upset. Pathan seemed disappointed with Raina’s remarks as he said “female angle lana zaroori nahi hota (it’s not always important to include a female angle)”.

Irfan then left the shooting area and took the seat nearby. A puzzled Raina subsequently went to his former teammate to bring him back. On their way back, Irfan burst into laughter and revealed that it was an ‘April Fool’s Day’ prank. While the presenters were amused with Irfan’s antics, Raina seemingly breathed a sigh of relief.

The video of the incident was shared by Star Sports, which garnered reactions both from Raina and Irfan. “Don’t lie and say April Fool. Plant a tree and say April Cool. Love you too @IrfanPathan bhai, All the best for your movie,” Raina tweeted. Reacting to the same, Irfan posted a hug emoticon.
