Former Pakistan pacer calls Virat Kohli the best batsman in the world

Team India has stormed back into the contest with a sensational win at Trent Bridge. The series has been kept alive and it all depends on how both the teams will fare in Southampton. Virat Kohli led the way once again with the bat for the visitors as he scored 200 runs in total in both the innings and no wonder is being called the best batsman in the world. However, even the former Pakistan pacer Asif Masood feels the same as he has showered praise on the Indian captain.

Very few had given India a chance after the way they lost at Lord’s. There were talks of even 5-0 and many were of the opinion that the likes of James Anderson and Stuart Broad will run through them in every other game. But as the third Test began to unfold, there was a remarkable change in their approach and they posted their first 300 plus score of the series. The bowlers did their job then as the visitors sealed their first win in whites to keep the series alive.

I love his intensity

Asif Masood, who is based in the United Kingdom in Manchester now, loved the way Team India won against England. He also liked the Virat Kohli’s captaincy and went on to say that it is his intensity which drives the team and they deserve to be the number 1 team in the world.

“India are a fine side which is led well by Virat Kohli. What a player he is… the best batsman in the world. I love his intensity. England can be beaten. “There was an improvement in the Indian batting at Nottingham and with your bowlers doing a good job, England will find it difficult to win,” he was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.

Masood was also critical of the Joe Root-led England Test side and termed them as an over-rated unit. He backed the visitors to win the next game easily. “I think England are an over-estimated side. Sure, Joe Root is a class act, but the rest of the batting can fall away. England have always been over-rated,” the 72-year-old added who played 19 Tests for Pakistan.
