'Get well soon mate' - Sachin Tendulkar wishes a speedy recovery to Chris Cairns

The Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took it to Twitter to extend his wishes for the speedy recovery of Chris Cairns.

The former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns is going through some challenging and tough times in terms of his health. During the heart surgery in Sydney, he is understood to have suffered a stroke in his spine which resulted in paralysis in his legs. He has returned to his home but still remains in a concerning condition.

Chris Cairns is one of the best all-rounders of his era.  The plethora of talent he had under his belt and the passion he exuded for cricket made him the fan’s favorite. Thus the news of his health issues has been an upsetting one for everyone. Recently, the Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also extended his wishes for the speedy recovery of Cairns.

Tendulkar took to his official Twitter account to express his feelings post knowing about the health conditions of the former Kiwi all-rounder. He put forward his concerns and pointed that the entire cricket fraternity wishes for him to get well soon. “Concerned to know about Chris Cairns. Hoping & praying. 🙏🏻 Get well soon mate, the entire cricketing fraternity wishes for your wellbeing,” Sachin Tendulkar’s Tweet read.

Chris and his family to spend some time together

Chris Cairns had come off life support last week after his surgery at the Sydney hospital. The New Zealand cricketer had collapsed after having suffered a severe heart attack which resulted in aortic dissection in Canberra, earlier this month. According to a statement from his lawyer Aaron Lloyd, Chris and his family are to spend some time together and make progress in his recovery.

“Chris and his family now want to focus on spending time together where possible and making whatever progress they can in his recovery. We will update everyone when there is more news, but that is likely to be some time away.” as reported by ESPNcricinfo

The son of former Test player Lance Cairns, Chris has featured in 62 Test matches for New Zealand and 215 One Day Internationals. In 62 test matches, he has chipped in 3320 runs and picked up 218 wickets. Whereas in the ODIs, he scored 4950 runs and has scalped a total of 201 wickets. He has been instrumental in helping New Zealand to secure victory from many crunch moments.
