History was scripted in Dubai on October 24 as Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup event. The head-to-head record between India and Pakistan was 12-0 in World Cup events. However, the Babar Azam-led side put up a clinical show and brought an end to a long-running losing streak. With Pakistan kick-starting their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign in an emphatic fashion, fans of the team went on seventh heaven.

While several Pakistan fans expressed their delight on social media, Momin Saqib’s reaction got special attention. If one may recall, Momin, fondly known as ‘Maaro mujhe maaro’ guy, is the same die-hearted fan who became a sensation after Pakistan lost to India in the 2019 World Cup. Reacting to Pakistan’s loss, Momin had unleashed a rant slamming the Pakistan side for their dismal show in the game.

It is a historic win: Popular Pakistan fan Momin Saqib

While Momin was exasperated back then, he was ecstatic after Pakistan defeated India. “10 wickets se Pakistan jeeta hai, mera dil chah raha hai main ye mitti ko kha jaaun (Pakistan has won by 10 wickets, I feel like eating the mud). It is a historic win. The voice of Pakistan cricket supporters will echo for the next 200 years in this stadium” Saqib said in a video he shared on his Instagram account.

Speaking of how the game panned out, Pakistan won the crucial toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and elected to bowl first. Shaheen Shah Afridi justified the decision by breathing fire with the new ball. Virat Kohli then steadied the ship and scored a fighting half-century. Riding on his efforts, India advanced to 151/7 in their allotted 20 overs. With the track being challenging, many backed India to cross the line.

However, skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added 152 runs for the first wicket as Pakistan won the game with 13 balls to spare. Indian skipper Virat Kohli didn’t hesitate in admitting that his side was outplayed. “We didn’t execute properly. Credit where it’s due and Pakistan outplayed us today. They started brilliantly with the ball, and 3 wickets for 20 runs was not a good start. We needed wickets early but with the bat they gave us absolutely no chances,” Kohli said after the game.
