New Zealand and India will face each other in a two-match Test series, that will begin on 25th November 2021. And, ahead of this series, New Zealand veteran batsman Ross Taylor said that he will not reveal his plans against legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Taylor also added that he does not know what bowling lineup the Indian side will field for the first Test. The 37-year-old also feels that Axar Patel played a major role for the Indian side with the red ( and pink) cherry in hand in the Test series against England.

“I don’t want to give my secrets away just here (on being asked what’s his plan for R Ashwin). I don’t know what lineup India decide to go with, Axar Patel played a big role against England,” said Ross Taylor in a press conference.

Taylor also added that Ashwin will surely be one of the spinners that the Indian side will field for the first Test and admitted that how the New Zealand batsmen fare against the Indian spinners will play a major role in the outcome of the series.

“Now they are going to play three spinners or two spinners, obviously Ashwin will be one of them. They are very good bowlers especially in these conditions and how we will play them, will play a big part in how the series is gonna go,” added Taylor.

I will bring the slog sweep into play every now and then: Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor also said that India have good pacers who are skilled both with the new and old ball and added that he will not assume that only the Indian spinners will play a major role. Adding that the Kiwi batters should put pressure on the Indian bowlers, Taylor concluded by stating that he will employ the slog sweep shot against the spinners in the upcoming Test series.

“Fast bowling still remains a main element with the new ball and reverse swing. But spin more often plays a big part over here, so we could be naive if we assume only spin will play a key part. We still gonna have to face a quality seam bowling lineup and reverse swing. I think we should also be worried about that but spin is gonna play a big proportion of how we will be going to play the Test.

You have to put some pressure back on the bowlers. If I get the opportunity, I could bring back the slog sweep shot every now and then,” concluded the New Zealand batting maestro.
