Match Details:

The 9th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Region Final 2019 will be played between the Cayman Islands and United States of America (USA) at the White Hill Field in Sandys Parish, Hamilton.

The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (7:30 PM IST) (2:00 PM GMT).

Preview:

The United States of America (USA) were stunned by Bermuda twice in two matches in this tournament. This meant the USA lost a chance to be on the board for gaining a chance for making it to the next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Bermuda will join Canada in the upcoming qualifiers for the T20 World Cup. The USA team will now clash against the Cayman Islands as they look for consolation.

The newest T20I side, Cayman Islands, were considered to be the weakest side among the four. As expected, they lost all the four matches they played. However, there were a couple of moments where the Cayman team did threaten to spring a surprise. In the last match against a strong Canada team, the Cayman team bowlers dismissed the opposition openers for a duck.

Weather Condition/Report:

The weather in Bermuda could be inconsistent but the matches hosted by Sandys Parish have not got interrupted yet. There are fewer chances of rain during the morning compared to the evenings here at the White Hill Field. Clear sunny weather is expected for this game between Cayman and the USA.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Sandys Parish remains sticky in the morning and it is the reason for low scoring matches in the morning. If Cayman Islands bat first, we might not see anything over 100. The USA is expected to score around 140 against a decent bowling attack of the Cayman team.

Injury and Availability News:

Ali Khan has been replaced by Sunny Sohal in the USA squad. Ali Khan suffered an injury which didn’t allow him to play the first three matches.

Top Picks:

Gregory Strydom has had two good outings with the bat against the competition’s strongest team, Canada. Timil Patel has been in news for his bowling and not for his primary role of batting in this tournament. Timil has taken 8 wickets in three matches including a 4-wicket haul.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Captain – Timil Patel, Steven Taylor, Hayden Walsh Jr

Vice-captain – Jaskaran Malhotra, Luke Harrington Myers, Gregory Strydom

Hayden Walsh Jr will be safe as vice-captain given the way he performed in this tournament. The all-rounder earned 20+ points three out of four matches.

Expert Advice:

After missing out on qualification, the United States of America would look to improve their T20I record at least. They might not make much of changes and the same is expected with Cayman Islands who await their maiden T20I win.

Probable Winners:

The USA is expected to register their second win in as many matches against the Cayman Islands.
