India enters the semi-final as the table-toppers as they cruised to a 7-wicket win against Sri Lanka in their final league stage match. Angelo Mathews’ 113-run knock helped Sri Lanka recover from 55/4 to finish on 264/7. Rohit Sharma continued his rich form with the bat scoring his 3rd straight hundred while KL Rahul got his first ODI ton in nearly three years. The duo added 189 runs for the opening wicket as India chased the target with 39 balls and seven wickets to spare.

All the statistical highlights from India’s convincing win against Sri Lanka at the Leeds:

A tournament to remember for Rohit:

4 – Rohit Sharma stood out as the player of the match on four instances in this tournament where he scored a century in the winning cause. No other player has won more player of the match awards in a single edition of World Cup. Aravinda de Silva in 1996, Lance Klusener in 1999 and Yuvraj Singh in 2011 also had four such awards.

5 – Rohit Sharma became the first player to score five centuries in a single edition of the World Cup surpassing the four tons by Kumar Sangakkara in the 2015 edition.

A rare triple for Rahul:

1 – KL Rahul became the first player to score a century in all formats of International cricket in England. Rahul scored an unbeaten 101 against the hosts in the Manchester T20I last year and a 149-run knock in the same tour during the Oval Test match. The 111 against Sri Lanka was his maiden ODI ton in England.

Rohit-Rahul builds again:

189 – The 189-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul is India’s highest partnership for the first wicket in World Cup. The previous highest was recorded by this very pair in the previous match against Bangladesh with a 180-run stand. They thus became the first pair with back to back 150+ partnerships in the World Cup.

1 – Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul pair is also the first Indian pair with three century stands in the World Cup. There are seven other pairs with two CWC 100-run stands but none with three such partnerships before them.

3 – The pair of Rohit and Rahul is only the 2nd opening pair in World Cup to score centuries in the same game. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga achieved this feat twice – against Zimbabwe in 2011 and against England in the 2011 WC quarter-final.

3 – The Rohit-Rahul pair has put on three century stands in this edition; the joint-most by any pair. Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden duo achieved this feat in the 2007 WC while another Australian pair of Aaron Finch and David Warner also have three 100+ stands in the ongoing tournament. Roy and Bairstow also shared three century opening partnerships in this World Cup.

4 – India became the first team to share four century opening stands in an edition of World Cup. Rohit Sharma had one such stand with Shikhar Dhawan and three 100+ stands in six matches while opening with KL Rahul.

Bumrah @ 100:

57 – Jasprit Bumrah completed 100 wickets in ODI cricket during his 57th ODI. He is the 2nd fastest among Indians after Mohammed Shami (55 matches) and also the 9th fastest among all bowlers.

Malinga signs off from CWC:

56 – Lasith Malinga finishes off his World Cup career with 56 wickets; the 3rd most by any player. Only Glenn McGrath (71) and M Muralitharan (68) have taken more World Cup wickets than Malinga.

Mathews got no luck:

3 – Angelo Mathews now has scored three centuries in the ODI format; all coming against India. However, Mathews ended up on the losing side in all those three matches.
