ICC World Cup 2019: Poonam Pandey wants to give Pakistan a different kind of cup

India and Pakistan as neighbouring nations have been at loggerheads with each other for quite a few years now. Leave alone improving, their relationship has only worsened and it doesn’t seem to get better any sooner. Back in February, the Pulwama attacks in J&K turned out to be a massive development. Ahead of the World Cup 2019 tie between the two teams, there has been an exchange through advertisements. One version didn’t go down well with Bollywood actress Poonam Pandey and she has responded to it in her own style.

Thereafter, India retaliated with an air-strike in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan, who also escalated the situation sending in their fighter jets across the Line of Control. From the Indian side, IAF’s Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman went in Pakistan’s custody after his MiG- 21 Bison was brought down in PoK. Thereafter a video went viral on social media where he can be seen blindfolded and interrogated by the Pakistan Army.

Later on March 1, he was brought back to India through the Wagah-Attari check post in Amritsar. While it was believed that things have calmed down surrounding the incident, the IAF pilot still remains a common thread between the two nations. Ahead of their Cricket World Cup match against India on June 16 in Manchester, Pakistan released an advertisement where they mocked Abhinandan.

The advertisement came after India released the father-son promo for the marquee clash at Old Trafford. After the terror attack in February, many called for Pakistan to be boycotted and even asked the BCCI to opt out of this match, but the game will be played as per schedule.

Poonam gives a fitting reply

Indian actress Poonam Pandey who closely follows the Indian team was not quite happy with how Pakistan used Abhinandan’s reference in the advertisement. She posted a video on Instagram where she first showed the ad while having a cup of tea. Pandey hit back at Pakistan for making fun of India’s ‘War Hero’.

In the Pakistani video, the makers enacted how Abhinandan was being interrogated. Poonam claimed that she had a perfect answer to the clip. She pulled out and suggested another kind of ‘cup’ which Pakistan can use to drink tea. She captioned her video “My Answer to the Pakistani AD”
