Indian fielders violate cricketing rules during third test at Ranchi

The Indian fielders violated one of the cricket’s most important rules during Day 5’s play at Ranchi. Virat Kohli’s men were seen continuously chattering and fidgeting during the bowler’s run-ups which irritated the umpires, the opponent and their own teammates to quite an extent. Playing at a professional level it is very much expected of the Indian players that they are aware of the cricketing rules and see to it that the rules are not violated. The players are to keep silent from the moment a bowler starts their run-up until a batsman completes his shot. The Australian team were quiet about the issue when asked about the Indian fielders’ non-stop chat during the second test as they wanted to avoid complaining about the clash in Bangalore. But the issue popped up once again during the third test at Ranchi where a solid partnership between Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb rescued Australia from the hands of defeat. One example of the incident was in the 47th over when Shaun Marsh pulled out just when Umesh Yadav was running in. Umpire Ian Gould was alert and pointed out the fact to Umesh Yadav saying “You’re all the way up there (having run in) and he’s talking. Him” The second example is of the 29th over when Ishant Sharma was forced to nullify his run-up when he was bowling to the 20-year-old Renshaw. The incident angered the fast bowler as he had some bitter words with the batsman before the situation was brought under control. Aussie skipper Steve Smith quoted “Murali Vijay was at mid-wicket and he moved a few steps to his left as the bowler was running in.” So that put him off and he’s entitled to back away. I’m not sure what happened with Ishant, he obviously wasn’t overly happy but to be fair he bowled pretty well after that.” “Whatever it was made him a bit angry and he bowled pretty well the couple of overs after that” According to Smith, neither side crossed the line and that helped the game run smoothly. “There’s always a bit of tension when you’re playing Australia-India in Test matches. It’s being played in the right spirit out on the field and it’s a hard and tough grind. No issues with that.”
